Razuna UpDrive is deprecated since Razuna 1.3.5, since Google does not actively support Google Gears anymore and with HTML 5 this will be another technology. Fear not, Razuna has a lot of caching already built in so that you actually don't need this anymore.

Razuna UpDrive

Razuna UpDrive is a technology build on top of Gears that makes your browsing experience within Razuna much faster. If you install Gears, Razuna will be able to store the most used files, like images, Javascripts, pages, etc. on in your local browser cache. Thus Razuna will not need to download those files every time you use Razuna.

Requirements

Installing and Enabling UpDrive

When you login to Razuna you will see a new link called "UpDrive" in the upper right corner. If you don't have the Gears plugins installed in your browser the "UpDrive" letters will appear in red (if you have Gears installed but not enabled you will see a "UpDrive (Off)".

Click on the "UpDrive" link. This will bring up a window where you will be able to install (or enable) UpDrive.

If you install Gears for the first time the Install button will bring you to the official Gears site where you will be able to install the Gears plugin. To enable Gears you need to restart your browser. After the restart you will get back into Razuna automatically.

After the restart and by bringing up the UpDrive window you will be able to "Enable UpDrive" for Razuna by clicking on the "Enable UpDrive" button. Once clicked there will be a small security window asking you to allow the current Razuna URL to be cached. Allow Razuna to use Gears by clicking on "Allow".

After this, Razuna will download the most used files to your local cache. Please wait to allow Gears to download all the files. Once done, you will see a confirmation message.

Once you will receive the confirmation message that all the files have been downloaded, you can refresh the current page and you should see a fast improvement in the loading times of Razuna in general.

Troubleshooting

Actually there shouldn't be any problems regarding UpDrive and Gears, but in a rare case that you feel that something is wrong you can clear the cache of Gears.

There are two options to disable and/or clear the cache of the current Gears for your Razuna application.

Remove UpDrive within Razuna
If there are any errors, try disabling UpDrive, then reload the page and enable it again by clicking on the "Remove UpDrive" button. This will erase the local cache.

Gears Settings within the Browser
Gears has its own Browser menu item. If you open it you can remove the local data storage for Razuna (as well as all other Gears enabled sites) or remove it.
